World Book Day celebrated at Central University of HP

Dharamshala: As part of World Book Day celebrations, School of Education at the Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) in association with National Book Trust (NBT) organized a workshop on the campus on today.World Book Day at Central University of HP

Delivering the keynote address at the workshop, Dr. Manas Ranjan Mahapatra, Editor and Head of National Centre for Children’s Literature at National Book Trust said , “There is a declining interest among the book readers and popularity of books is now challenged by growing new-media forms and technologies. Providing eBooks and interactive books to children will be the best way to promote reading habits among them.”

Interacting with the faculty and other participants at the workshop, he stressed on the need for teachers and parents to inculcate reading habits among the children. Detailing on the efforts to promote reading habits, he said NBT is planning to promote more books in regional languages.

Dr. Shekhar Sarkar, author and coordinator of the Dharamshala book fair informed the gathering that NBT will be organizing a 6 day book fair at the Police Ground in Dharamshala from May 8th to 14th.

Dr. Arbind Kumar Jha, Dean of School of Education, Prof. I.V. Malhan, Dean of School of Mathematics, Computer and Information Science, Prof. Arvind Agrawal, Dean of School of Social Sciences, Dr. Rabindranath Manukonda, Dean of School of Journalism Mass Communication and New Media , faculty members and students attended the workshop . Dr. Manoj Kumar Saxena, Associate Professor at the School of Education proposed the vote of thanks.
