Noida, April 20 (IANS) A 51-year-old woman was robbed of her gold chain at gun point by two men on a motorcycle near her home here Saturday, the family said.
As Sujata Ranganathan was taking a walk around 6.30 a.m., the motorcycle stopped near her and the pillion rider threatened, in a whispering tone, to shoot her if she did not hand over her “mangalsutra”.
As the stunned woman turned to face her aggressors, she lost balance and fell into a pit, her husband D. Ranganathan told IANS. She immediately threw a ball of mud on the criminals, forcing them to drive away.
But they returned as she tried to get up. This time, the pillion rider calmly got off the motorcycle, whipped out a revolver, placed it on her neck and demanded the gold chain. With that, they zoomed away.
The incident took place opposite a park and near the boundary wall of Jagran Public School in Noida Sector 47/48.
“It all happened in a flash,” Ranganathan said. “My wife did not scream. The reason they whispered on both occasions was because they wanted to commit the crime without attracting the attention of other morning walkers.”
