Widows to come under Delhi Annshri Yojana: Dikshit

New Delhi, April 16 (IANS) Widows will be included under the Delhi Annshri Yojana which aims to provide relief to over two lakh families presently not covered under the public distribution system (PDS), Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit announced Tuesday.

The vigilance committees headed by legislators will recommend up to 500 cases for enrolment under the scheme to speed up the pace of its implementation, said a statement here.

Dikshit said the government was keen to ensure that “the benefits reach the maximum number of vulnerable households”.

Launched Dec 15, 2012, the scheme for families other than below poverty line and Antyodaya cardholders are provided cash transfers of Rs.600 per month to be directly transferred to the senior most female member, to purchase foodgrain of their choice.
