Panaji, April 26 (IANS) Leader of Opposition in Goa’s assembly Pratapsing Rane Friday demanded that all cattle in the state be vaccinated “on war footing” to keep foot and mouth disease and other infections at bay.
Rane was speaking in the Goa legislative assembly, whose budget session is continuing here.
“We have to get all our stray cattle vaccinated on a war-footing so that they do not spread diseases like foot and mouth and other infectious diseases to dairy animals,” Rane said.
Death due to foot and mouth disease can be costly for dairy farmers, Rane said.
Goa, a milk-deficient state, is gearing for a mini white revolution of its own, and has unveiled new dairy-related schemes.
