Kiev, April 23 (IANS) Some 2,000 volunteers will be needed to provide information, language and other services during the EuroBasket 2015 European Basketball Championship.
“According to preliminary estimates, around 2,000 volunteers will be involved in EuroBasket organisation process,” tournament director for Ukraine Markian Lubkivsky was quoted as saying by Xinhua during the press conference of the EuroBasket 2015 project.
Lubkivsky said Monday that the volunteers’ recruitment will start in August next year. He also said that the construction and preparatory works in the host cities have already started and will be concluded by February 2015.
The EuroBasket finals will be hosted by Ukraine in September 2015. The group stage matches will take place in Kiev, Odessa, Kharkov and Lvov, while playoff games will be held in Dnepropetrovsk and Donetsk.
Kiev Sports Palace will host the final match of the 24-team tournament.
Ukraine expects at least 120,000 foreign fans.
