Two new law courses at Himachal Pradesh University from 2013 session – VC

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh University intends to introduce two new courses in the law faculty from 2013-14 academic session, Vice Chancellor ADN Bajpai disclosed here.

The Vice Chancellor let newly appointed Chief Justice of HP High Court Justice Ajay Manik Rao Khanwilker know yesterday, at a courtesy call meeting, that best available talent was being sensitized for taking up law as an attractive career course being imparted at the department of law.

Bajpai also announced the appointment of professor Kamal Jeet Singh as coordinator of mediation course, Dr HR Jhingta as court manager and management course, Professor SN Sharma for Special Assistance Program, Dr Raghuvinder Singh as coordinator for law faculty journal and Professor Kailash Thakur as dean and chairman of law department.

The law faculty with coordinate all lecture series to be organized in the future, where eminent personalities would be invited to share their experiences and views with law school students at the university, said the vice-chancellor.

He added that the High Court was proactive in formulating collaborative proposals wherein the legal practitioners and  the academial work together for preparing a course in mediation which is the need of the hour.

Course of court manager and management is to provide a platform to the students who wish to start the carreer in legal consultancy.

Job opportunities for judicial executives will also be available in the courts for ensuring smooth sailing for the day-to-day official work. The students pursuing the legal studies would also be given more inputs and they will be sensitized, said Bajpai.
