Guwahati, April 8 (IANS) Two members of the anti-talk faction of the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) were Monday killed in a gun battle with security forces in Assam, police said.
The incident took place in Bordolonipathar village in Dibrugarh district Monday morning, a police official said.
“It was a joint operation by the police and army after we received a tip-off that some ULFA cadres were taking shelter in the area,” Superintendent of Police Rana Bhuyan told IANS.
“Two suspicious-looking people opened fire on the team, leading to a gun battle in which both were killed,” Bhuyan added.
A rifle, a US made pistol with ammunition, two Chinese grenades, 20 rounds of live AK series rifle ammunition and some documents including extortion notes were recovered from the slain ULFA cadres, police said.
