Tunis, April 17 (IANS) Tunisia’s U-17 team defeated Gabon 4-2 in Round 2 of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying tournament in Morocco.
The win Tuesday is Tunisia’s second after it defeated Botswana 3-1 in their first match, reports Xinhua.
The Tunisians, who were leading 3-0 in the first half, lost their impetus and allowed Gabon to make a comeback, scoring two successive goals. However, Samti cut the suspense short after he scored the country’s fourth goal two minutes before the final whistle.
This win enables the Carthage Eagles to qualify for the semi-finals of the competition as well as qualifying for the next World Cup.
