Kolkata, April 20 (IANS) If you are a special guest of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), then be prepared to be seated in glass fronted air-conditioned lounges, with state-of-the-art LCDs, non-stop food service and cushy sink-in chairs while watching matches in the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Invitees of KKR and IPL are lavished with attention at the five sprawling “boxes” at the Eden Gardens (and other venues of KKR matches), containing lounges and dining facilities.
Aided by bouncers, the guests are guided to the seating area where hostesses dressed in purple skirts and white blouses, bearing KKR’s initials, take care of the visitor’s food and other arrangements.
With the option to watch the match from the lounge or with the commoners in the ordinary seats, the lucky ones are spoilt for choice.
Branded with wrist bands, they are constantly served by waiters ferrying snacks and drinks. The boxes that house the lounges, have a dining area where both vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies can be had simmering hot.
“We can customise the vegetarian fare as per the guest’s wishes. If they want vegetarian food cooked separately, away from non-veg then we do that too,” a hostess told IANS.
A diligent house keeping staff makes sure the place is spic and span at all times. Even the floral arrangements, dominated by purple, are artfully placed at corners and entrances.
Celebrity guests can have whole lounges to themselves, that are equipped with refrigerators besides LCD screens.
