Rajasthan register first win in women’s hockey

Lucknow, April 25 (IANS) Five goals by Sonu helped Rajasthan beat Bengal 9-2 in a Pool B match of the Women’s National Hockey Championship at the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium here Thursday.

It was their first win after two defeats.

Goal scorers for Rajasthan were Sonu (17, 21, 50, 58, 64 min), Jaya Chouhan (19, 52 min) and Prabhjot Kaur (61, 69 min). For Bengal, the scorers were Archana Kumari Tewari (5 min) and Rubi Khatun (39 min).

In Pool H, Assam thrashed Delhi 5-2. Scorers for Assam were Rashmi Soran (25, 30 minutes), Puja Sinha (9 min), Annu Kumari (15 min) and Divyani Verma (46 min) while Manita (34 min) and Sangeeta Singh (68 min) netted for Delhi.

In Pool F, Chandigarh defeated Bhopal 4-0. Scorers for Chandigarh were Pooja Kundu (11 min), Karishma Singh (14 min), Usha Singh (20 min) and Nishi Singh (52).

Sports Authority of India beat Gujarat 13-0 in Pool F.
