New Delhi, April 20 (IANS) Space scientist Roddam Narasimha, industralist Adi Godrej and wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt were among a galaxy of individuals conferred Padma awards by President Pranab Mukherjee at a function here Saturday.
The president presented two Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 38 Padma Shri awards at the civil investiture ceremony.
Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde were among those who attended the ceremony.
Narasimha (scinence and engineering) and Sayed Haider Raza (art) were given Padma Vibhushans, while boxer M.C. Mary Kom, Godrej, actors Rajesh Khana (posthumous) and Jaspal Singh Bhatti (posthumous) were among those given Padma Bhushans. Kom was not present at the function.
Urdu poet Nida Fazli and Yogeshwar Dutt were among those given Padma Shris.
This year’s list of honours were announced Jan 25. An investiture function was earlier held April 5.
