New Delhi, April 16 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Tuesday condoled the loss of life, injury and damage to property in the massive earthquake that hit the Pakistan-Iran border.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the people who have lost their dear ones and suffered in this tragedy,” he said in tweets posted by the PMO.
Strong tremors rocked large parts of north India, including the national capital and its adjoining areas, Tuesday evening following a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake on the Pakistan-Iran border. There were no immediate reports of casualties in India.
The quake killed at least 40 people in Iran and nine in Pakistan.
