New Delhi, April 6 (IANS) Chaos reigned outside the Ferozeshah Kotla for the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Delhi Daredevils and Rajasthan Royals here Saturday as fans scampered to find space to park their vehicles.
Many were left frustrated with limited options as Kotla does have designated parking areas as all of them have been given to holders of VIP stickers. Otherwise, there are few designated parking areas for public for a stadium having a capacity of 45,000 spectators.
“What can we do? The rules are given by the authorities. We also feel bad for the people who come here to enjoy themselves but have to go through all this hassle,” a traffic policeman told IANS after taking a breather from giving instructions to multiple car drivers.
Some fans that were coming to the stadium for the first time and had no idea what to expect were not left amused.
“This is really funny! I cant believe the shoddy arrangement. There is absolutely no parking space. Where do they want me to park? How do they expect us to come,” asked Neelima Gupta, an investment banker in the United States who is here on a holiday.
“This is a big stadium yet they there is such poor management. We only got parking space a kilometre away and then we walked all the way back. It is a big hassle.”
