United Nations, April 9 (IANS) Over 450 people, including 229 civilians, were killed and more than 1,100 injured in the terror attacks and violence in Iraq during March, according to the UN, Xinhua reported.
The statistics have been revealed by Eduardo del Buey, deputy UN spokesperson, during a news briefing Monday, citing a source with the UN Mission in Iraq (UNAMI).
The source told 227 members of the Iraqi security forces were killed and 300 more were injured in such attacks.
“The Mission remains concerned at the rise in violence in Iraq and the increasing toll on Iraqi civilians and its detrimental impact on civilian infrastructure,” del Buey said. “Iraqis continue to suffer from attacks perpetrated by a number of terrorist groups, among them Al-Qaeda in Iraq and the Islamic State of Iraq.”
