New Delhi, April 2 (IANS) A historical drama “Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap”, inspired by the life and times of the 16th century Rajput ruler, will roll out soon on Sony Entertainment Television.
Produced by Contiloe Productions, the idea for the show germinated while producer Abhimanyu Singh was working on “Jhansi Ki Rani”.
“While making ‘Jhansi Ki Rani’, I kept coming across the fact that Maharana Pratap was a major source of inspiration to Rani Lakshmi Bai. On reading more on him, I realised that he was one of the bravest Indian rulers to have ruled in India, a true patriot who never gave up his freedom,” Singh said in a statement.
Channel officials are hopeful the show finds resonance with today’s generation.
“We hope to give the audience an insight into his inspirational life. We have always been fascinated with the countless stories of courage, valour and sacrifices associated with Maharana Pratap, and most of them are extremely pertinent and relevant even in today’s times,” said Sneha Rajani, senior executive vice-president and business head, Sony Entertainment Television.
The cast of the show is not yet known, and the date of its telecast is yet to be locked. If sources are to be believed, it will take a few months before it hits the small screen.
