No one hurt in attack on Indian envoy’s car

New Delhi, April 13 (IANS) The external affairs ministry Saturday clarified that no one was injured in the crude bomb attack that took place Friday near the car of the Indian high commissioner in Khulna, Bangladesh.

“The crude bomb exploded 20 metres away from where the high commissioner’s car was parked. No one was injured,” said external affairs ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin at a media briefing here Saturday.

He said the car did not belong to the high commission. It had been hired and was not damaged in the attack.

He denied media reports that said the driver had been injured.

The spokesperson said High Commissioner Pankaj Saran, who was attending a function in Khulna when the attack took place, “completed his assignments in Khulna and now he is in Jessore. He will fly back to Dhaka today (Saturday) according to his pre-scheduled meetings”.
