Jakarta, April 22 (IANS) A senior official at the Dutch football association said here Monday that the association would team up with Indonesian youth and sports ministry and Indonesian football association in developing football in the country.
“We are interested in the cooperation. We have set up intense communication with Indonesian embassy in the Netherlands to prepare the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the cooperation for long-term period,” Mark Boele, the Dutch association’s marketing and sponsorship manager said.
He was here regarding the preparation of the Dutch’s national football team visit to Indonesia scheduled in June this year, reports Xinhua.
He added that the Dutch football association had conducted further talks regarding the cooperation with Indonesian Youth and Sports Minister Roy Suryo who visited the Netherlands last week.
Indonesian football association (PSSI) chairman Djohar Arifin said on the occasion that talks with KNVB regarding such a cooperation had been underway since last year.
“We are keen to learn how the Netherlands with such a small population is able to produce world-class football players,” Djohar said.
