New Delhi, April 17 (IANS) The government Wednesday said micro-financing was an effective tool for reducing poverty.
Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Selja said that “micro-financing is an effective tool for reducing poverty and that the State Channelising Agencies (SCA) should extend their activities through micro-financing.”
Selja was speaking at the National Conference of Managing Directors of National Backward Classes Finance and Development Corporation (NBCFDC) here.
The minister assured that funds were no constraint for better performing states and requested state corporations to come up with good and viable project proposals.
The minister said that financial support would enable students to find self-employment.
She added that corporations have enhanced the limit for education loans to cover domestic professional courses and overseas education.
