Shimla: Municipal Corporation here has issued notice, instructing cable operators to remove all cable wires wedged into trees forthwith.
MC Shimla has granted a week’s time to all cable operators to remove their cable wires from the trees, failing which, a strict action will be taken against the operator(s).
The notice has been served considering that cables nailed or tied to the trees are a major reason for the drying of trees in the city.
The issue was brought to the notice of Municipal Corporation by its Chief Health Officer Umesh Kumar Bharti who was on an official visit to Benmore and Jakhu wards under the Sarva Mangala Yojana.
Umesh Kumar Bharti informed that most of the trees in two wards have been wedged with cables, which is causing these trees to dry out.
Following the information, MC Shimla has issued a notice to the cable operators to remove these wires from the trees within a week or face strict action.
Municipal commissioner Amarjeet Singh has confirmed the issuance of a notice to the cable operators.
Besides the cable operators, Municipal Corporation here has also issued a notice to HP Housing Board for harming trees. It is learned that Housing Board damaged four trees in Jakhu while constructing a retaining wall.
