Maruti’s Dzire and Ertiga win design award

Gurgaon April 18 (IANS) Passenger car market leader Maruti Suzuki’s Swift Dzire and Ertiga cars have been awarded the India Design Mark Award, a company official said here Thursday.

The award is given to products which are trustworthy, reliable, offer value for money, and most importantly, are manufactured in a responsible manner, a Maruti Suzuki spokesperson said.

This is the second consecutive year when this award has been bestowed on Maruti Suzuki models. In 2012, the company’s Wagon R and Swift were the winners of this award.

Speaking on the feat, C.V. Raman, executive director-engineering, said: “The core philosophy at Maruti Suzuki is to design products which have the highest standards in design and engineering.”

“This award for the second consecutive year is an acknowledgment of our passion and commitment to maintain the highest design standards for our cars.”

Incidentally, both Dzire and Ertiga are among the top models in terms of sales in the industry. In 2012-13, both these models added handsomely to Maruti Suzuki’s top line, helping it post a growth of over 4.4 percent in the domestic market.

The jury for the India Design Mark comprises India’s leading design experts and senior faculty members of design institutes.

India Design Mark has been initiated in cooperation with the Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP).
