Mumbai, April 14 (IANS) Maharashtra edged out hosts Mumbai 2-1 in Pool A and entered the semi-finals of the Hockey India Sub-Junior Women’s National Championship (West Zone) played here at the Mahindra Stadium Sunday.
Alaknanda Bagadi scored the opening goal for Maharastra in the 40th minute. Mumbai levelled in the 64th minute but the second goal by Alaknanda helped Maharashtra win their last league match. Madhya Pradesh, who topped Pool A, have already qualified for semi-finals.
In Pool B, Rajasthan defeated Chhattisgarh 3-1 while Goa beat Gujarat 2-0.
Both Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh are through to the semi-finals to be played Monday.
Results: Pool A: Maharashtra 2 (Alaknanda Bagadi 40, 69) beat Mumbai 1 (Jemimah Rodrigues 64).
Pool B: Rajasthan 3 (Rachna Challan 16, Tanya Singla 21 and Aarti 64) beat Chhattisgarh 1 (Disha Nagvanshi 30); Goa 2 (Maheshwari Haldankar 49, Tannia Dsouza 57) beat Gujarat 0.
