Bhubaneswar, April 16 (IANS) A low intensity earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale was felt in parts of Odisha Tuesday, an official said. No loss of life or damage to property was reported.
The earthquake occurred at 8.36 a.m. and was felt for a few seconds in Astaranga area of Puri district, 70 km from here, an official of the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre told IANS.
The epicentre of the quake was about 40 km from Bhubaneswar, he added.
Another earthquake had jolted the northeast earlier Tuesday at 6.53 a.m. The epicentre was in Assam’s Darrang district.
Besides Meghalaya and Assam, tremors were also felt in Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.
There were no reports of casualty or damage to property.
