London, April 23 (IANS) Liverpool striker Luis Suarez could receive more than a three-match ban after being charged by the Football Association (FA) with violent conduct for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
The Uruguayan was given until 1700 GMT Tuesday to respond to the charge before a disciplinary committee is convened, reports Xinhua.
The FA warned that the standard punishment of three matches “is clearly insufficient in these circumstances”.
Suarez, who bit Ivanovic’s right arm during the 2-2 draw at Anfield in the Premier League Sunday, has already been fined by the club.
He has asked for the money to be donated to the Hillsborough Family Support Group.
