Kuala Lumpur, April 14 (IANS) World No.1 shuttler and two-time Olympic silver medallist Lee Chong Wei has become a proud father.
The Malaysian became a father Friday when his wife Wong Mew Choo gave birth to a son, who has been named Kingston Lee.
“This is totally different from any emotion that I have experienced before. I have been nervous on the badminton court but nothing comes close to this. Even the doctor said that I looked terribly pale,” the 30-year-old Chong Wei was quoted as saying by the Malaysian media.
“Surely, the birth of my son will bring good luck to us. As a father, I hope to do even better in my badminton career and make my son proud,” he added.
Chong Wei will next week play in New Delhi at the India Open Super Series. He lost to Shon Wan-ho of South Korea in the final of last year’s India Open.
