Tehran, April 4 (IANS) Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili said Thursday that the West must recognize his country’s right to uranium enrichment in the upcoming nuclear talks.
Speaking in Almaty in Kazakhstan, Jalili said the Friday talks can open its way to resolve Iran’s nuclear issue by “recognizing Iran’s nuclear rights especially the rights of enriching uranium”, reports Xinhua.
This is the right which has been safeguarded by the Nuclear Non- Proliferation Treaty (NPT) directives, he stated.
He expressed the hope that negotiations will end in results.
Iran and the P5+1 group (Britain, China, France, Russia, the US and Germany) held their latest meeting on Tehran’s nuclear programme in Almaty in February and agreed to hold another round of talks April 5-6.
