Hamdan bin Rashid opens DEWA station

Dubai, April 9 (IANS/WAM) Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the deputy ruler of Dubai and finance minister, has opened a Dubai Electricity and Water Authority station for power generation and water desalination.

The opening ceremony in Jebel Ali was attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, and Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, the minister of international cooperation and development.

Sheikh Hamdan conducted an introductory tour of the station and its various divisions which are equipped with state-of-the-art advanced technological systems.

The station is the largest power production and water desalination plant in the UAE, and generates 2,060 MW of electricity and 140 million imperial gallons of desalinated water per day.
