New Delhi, April 23 (IANS) The five-year-old Delhi rape survivor is recovering as expected and her fever has come down, a doctor atending on her said Tuesday.
“The girl is recovering as expected. Her fever has come down. She is afebrile (not feverish) now,” said D.K. Sharma, medical superintendent of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
“She is active and taking adequate liquids and semi-solid food. She has had good breakfast,” he said.
“Her colostomy is functioning normally,” the doctor added.
On Monday, doctors had said the rape survivor’s wounds were showing signs of healing.
“It can take approximately two weeks for the girl to be discharged,” Sharma had said.
Asked if the girl would be able to lead a normal life in future, he told reporters that doctors were trying their best to ensure that.
He said the child was too young to understand what had happened to her but counselling would be provided if the need arose.
The five-year-old girl was abducted April 15 and kept hostage in a flat where the attacker lived. She was sexually assaulted and brutalised leading to widespread protests in the national capital.
