Rio de Janeiro, April 16 (IANS/EFE) Fashion Rio, one of Brazil’s largest fashion industry fairs, will showcase new range for the Southern Hemisphere winter as well as offerings inspired by India and the Holi festival.
The event, which opened Monday and ends Friday, will feature the work of 25 fashion houses, taking visitors to the Marina da Gloria on a tour of the world.
Organizers will also hand out the Rio Moda Hype prize to draw attention to new talents.
The tropical jungle is one of the themes chosen by designers, such as Alessa (Migani) and Auslander, for this year’s show.
Cantao, for its part, is focusing on the female “citizen of the world” with fluid and colorful designs.
TNG, meanwhile, is unveiling offerings inspired by India and the Holi festival, better known as the “Festival of Colours”, in which people scatter coloured powders in the streets.
