Shimla: Healthcare services in the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH) here were affected following an indefinite agitation by doctors and paramedical staff, officials said today.
“Over 200 medical officials went on the indefinite strike in protest against manhandling of a resident doctor by a patient’s attendant Saturday,” an IGMCH official said.
He said alternative arrangements have been made as the striking doctors have given an ultimatum to the hospital authorities to arrest the accused within a day or else they would intensify their agitation.
IGMCH’s deputy medical superintendent Ramesh Chand said the emergencies services were operating normally.
“Talks with the striking doctors are on and the matter would be sorted out soon,” he said.
