Panaji, April 6 (IANS) BJP workers in Goa have been instructed to pin or paste the party symbol, a blooming lotus, on residences and homes across Goa as part of its awareness drive – and the more lotuses a worker distributes the more he or she will rise in the party ranks.
“It is our party symbol which we want to reach out to as many Goans as possible. Those party workers who distribute the most amount of lotus symbols will be given incentives. He will be given a better position in the party,” state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice president Wilfred Mesquita Mesquita said Saturday.
Starting Saturday, the party has started an outreach programme which is aimed at creating awareness amongst the voters ahead of the 2014 general elections.
“We are highlighting the failures of the UPA (united Progressive Alliance) government during our campaign now. The elections will be held next year or even this year. We want our voters to be made aware of how the Congress has let the country down,” Mesquita said.
