Los Angeles, April 17 (IANS) Hollywood actor Tom Cruise is reportedly set to play the lead role in sci-fi movie “Yukikaze”, an adaptation of a Japanese novel series by Chohel Kamayashi.
The big-budget Hollywood film will be set three decades after alien force JAM invades Earth through a wormhole that appears over Antarctica.
Cruise will star as part of a special planetary defence force, who avenge the attack by setting up bases on the aliens’ planet, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
Yukikaze is the name of the high-tech reconnaissance fighter plane the hero flies during his missions.
The film is produced by Erwin Stoff, Tom Lassally and Jason Hoffs.
Kamayashi’s popular books have already been made into five award-winning films in Japan, which went straight to video.
