Amritsar: A couple staying in a live-in relationship in Tehsilapur here has committed suicide. According to the initial investigation by the police, the lover first strangled the girl and then hung himself to death.
Police has taken the dead bodies in custody, and has begun further investigations.
According to police, the girl identified as Gita belongs to Pathankot, while the lover (yet to be asserted) belongs to Haridwar.
Parents of the two have been informed of the suicide by police.
The girl was working as a telephone operator in a private company in Amritsar and her lover was a street vendor of Chinese food here.
The locals informed that the two were living in a live-in relationship for the last few months.
According to police, the man learnt that Gita’s parents were planning to marry her with someone else, which didn’t go well with the couple and they decided to end their life.
