Rampur (Uttar Pradesh), April 6 (IANS) BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi Saturday said Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Manmohan Singh are both saying they are not in the prime minister’s race as they know their party would not win in 2014.
“Both Rahul Gandhi and Manmohan Singh are saying they are not in the race for prime minister’s post because they know there party will not win. It is a case of sour grapes,” said Naqvi at a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rally here.
Naqvi also called Gandhi the “crown prince of corruption”.
“The crown prince of corruption, made a monotonous, and useless speech. If Rahul Gandhi is so disappointed with the system, instead of going to a charity programme, he should get out of his mother’s home, and walk to (Prime Minister) Manmohan Singh’s residence, he will understand the problems of the nation at depth,” Naqvi said.
Gandhi, at a speech at an industrial chamber event Thursday, said the question of his becoming the prime minister was “irrelevant”.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Friday said a third term for him as prime minister was a “hypothetical question”, but did not rule out the chances. He added that he would welcome Congress vice president Gandhi to be prime minister “any day”.
