New Delhi, April 2 (IANS) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs Tuesday approved continuation of a Rs.373 crore Scheme for Special Infrastructure (SIS) in Maoist-affected states in the 12th Plan period (up to March 31, 2017), said an official statement.
According to the statement, the plan’s objective is upgradation and critical gap filling of training infrastructure, residential infrastructure, weaponry, vehicles and any other related items pertaining to special forces in Left Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected states.
The scheme was being implemented from the year 2008-09.
The total funds released under the scheme by the central government to the nine affected states during the 11th Plan period was Rs.445.82 crore.
