Rio de Janeiro, April 30 (IANS) Brazil international defender Dede is free to play for football club Cruzeiro after a labour court judge lifted an injunction over his $7 million transfer from Vasco da Gama.
The 24-year-old’s move had been blocked earlier this month after a court order filed by Brazil’s national treasury, which cited the Rio de Janeiro club’s $25 million tax debt, reports Xinhua.
But the decision was overturned Monday on the grounds that Dede was being denied the right to exercise his profession.
“It was absurd to not allow him to play and unconstitutional,” Dede’s lawyer Carlos Andre Freitas de Lopes said.
“The situation has now been resolved and we just need to finalise some minor details so that he can play. It’s now dependent on Cruzeiro.”
