Beijing, April 14 (IANS) The number of confirmed infections in humans of the H7N9 bird flu in China rose to 51 as two new cases were reported from the Henan province Sunday.
Of the total cases of H7N9 bird flu infection reported in China, 11 people have died so far.
The latest cases were confirmed following tests by the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention early Sunday, China Daily reported.
A 34-year-old man surnamed Ma, a restaurant chef in Weishi county of Kaifeng city, showed flu symptoms from April 6. He is in critical condition and under ICU treatment in a local hospital.
The other case is of a farmer, aged 65, from Zhoukou city who had frequent contact with poultry in his residence. He is stable after treatment.
Both cases were tested positive for the H7N9 bird flu virus Thursday by the Henan provincial centre of disease control and prevention.
