Chandigarh, April 6 (IANS) This is one introspection that Punjab’s ruling elite is bound to love. Leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance are headed for the beaches of Goa for their ‘Chintan Shivir (introspection camp)’ beginning Sunday.
The camp is being organised in five-star comfort at a leading hotel chain.
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said Saturday that the meeting would focus on formulating a strategy for the 2014 Lok Sabha polls and other issues related to Punjab.
The Akali Dal and BJP have an alliance government in Punjab, which is in its second term.
Badal said that both alliance partners would not only introspect the working of the government but would also work out plans to strengthen the base of the alliance and put Punjab further on the road to development.
The opposition Congress has criticised the Goa camp saying that the ruling alliance needs to address Punjab’s problems instead of having a luxury meet in Goa.
“It’s high time for SAD-BJP government to awake and they should do ‘chintan’ and come with remedies for the problems being faced by poor and needy of the state at its Goa meeting,” Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Sunil Jakhar said here Saturday.
