Bangalore, April 12 (IANS) Aditya Patel, the 24-year old from Chennai, will be driving for reigning champions MS Racing in the 2013 ADAC GT Masters series driving an Audi R8 LMS ultra car, according to a press release from the German car manufacturer here Friday.
Patel, the former Indian Formula Chevrolet champion, has been with Audi India for the past year as a lead instructor sharing his expertise and knowledge with Audi customers, and he will partner Daniel Dobitsch in the MS Racing team, the release added.
Patel completed a successful test April 9-10 at the Oschersleben circuit that will also host the first of the eight rounds (16 races) of the GT Masters series.
Patel, who won the Nurburgring 24 hours in his class last year, said: “I am very happy to continue my association with Audi India. After last year’s success, it is great to race in the GT3 championship with a highly experienced team.
“The Audi R8 LMS ultra is a specimen of superlative automotive technology. It is powerful, has fantastic balance, is extremely stable around the corners, and drives like none other on the track.”
MS Racing team principal Harald Bottner said: “We are really happy to have Aditya on our team. The first test at Oschersleben showed that he is a committed young driver with a lot of potential. We are looking forward to the coming season.”
