Kabul, April 8 (IANS) At least 19 Taliban militants have been killed and over three dozen held during military operations in different Afghan provinces since Saturday, the country’s interior ministry said Sunday.
“Afghan army, police and the NATO-led coalition forces conducted cleanup operations in Kunar, Jawzjan, Ghazni, Paktika, Herat and Helmand provinces.
“As a result 13 Taliban were killed, six wounded and 37 other armed Taliban were arrested,” Xinhua quoted the ministry as saying.
Two senior Taliban commanders, along with four other militants were killed when the coalition forces conducted an operation in Sheltan village of Kunar province, it added.
