Moscow, April 4 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Border guards in the south Russian city of Astrakhan have seized a consignment of 150 kg of slimming pills containing a substance banned in Russia.
The Federal Security Service or FSB said four bags with 27 different types of slimming pills were discovered at a border crossing point in a car travelling from Atyrau in Kazakhstan to Astrakhan.
All pills contained sibutramine, a dangerous substance banned in Russia.
The FSB did not specify when the pills were seized.
The pills have been sent for laboratory tests. Based on their results, a decision will be made on whether to open a criminal case, the FSB said.
Smuggling dangerous substances into Russia carries a prison sentence of up to seven years.
