New Delhi: It seems the controversy surrounding author Salman Rushdie’s visit to Kolkata for the promotion of the film ‘Midnight’s Children’ which is based on his Booker-winning novel is not going to end soon, as Rushdie today said that West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee herself ordered the police to block his arrival. Rushdie tweeted, “The simple fact is that the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee ordered the police to block my arrival.”Earlier Muslim groups took to the streets in Kolkata, protesting against his visit to the city.
