Shimla: Electrical equipment major Havells India Wednesday announced doubling production at its manufacturing facility in Himachal Pradesh, a company official said.
“The production will increase from 500,000 stock-keeping units per day to 1 million in the next six to nine months,” company president Sunil Sikka said in a statement.
The state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Baddi in Solan district manufactures switches and domestic switchgear.
Sikka said a new category of switches was also launched from the Baddi plant mainly to capture small towns and the rural market.
The demand for switches in the entry level segment is fast growing and there is huge potential, he said. “With the doubling of our production capacity, we are hopeful to meet the growing demand of consumers and also increase our market share in the next one year.”
A switch at entry level will be ranged between Rs.15 and Rs.20 compare to modular switches that ranged above Rs.50.
The $1.3 billion company expects to earn Rs.100 crore revenue per month from the Baddi plant with the jump in production.
