Shimla: Student at Central School of Tibetans, Solan, Yungdrung Rapten was declared the best artist at a state level ‘National Awareness Campaign on Energy Conservation’ painting competition organized here today.
While the first prize carried a cash award of Rs 10,000, the second prize of Rs 8000 was bagged by Ritvik Banchta of DAV public school, New Shimla and the third prize of Rs 5000 by Satyam Kumar Singh of Army Public School, Yol Cantonment.
The three winners would be participating in national level finals to be held at New Delhi in December.
Under the aegis of union ministry of power, the competition is organised in the state by public sector undertaking SJVN every year.
Speaking on the occasion, NL Sharma, a director with SJVN said that participation in the competition was increasing each year.
While there were 7124 participants from 178 schools when the competition was launched in 2008, in 2012 there were 141,498 participants from 7186 schools, said Sharma.
