Shimla: Eleven persons were killed and 27 others were injured when a Himachal Roadway Transport Corporation bus carrying 40 persons in Kinnuar district lost control and fell 200 feet into the valley on the right bank of Satluj river near Tapri last evening, a senior police officer said.
SP Kinnuar, Beena Bharati said that teh Himachal roadways bus was on its way from Keylong to Jhalama
when the driver lost control and the bus rolled down the river valley at about 7 p.m. yesterday. There were eleven persons who died on the spot and several others were seriously injured.
The police officer said that 10 bodies had been recovered while body of the vehicle driver was trapped inside the bus wreckage.
Bharti said that there were 12 Indo Tibetan Border Police personnel in the bus and two of them had
died in the accident. The injured had been rushed to Tapri and Recong-Peo hospital.
The bus left Recong Peo, the Kinnaur district headquarter, at 6 p.m. and went out of control after the driver was giving a pass to another vehicles, eyewitnesses said.
