Srinagar: Two militants and an army man were killed in an ensuing gun battle in the forests of North Kashmir which started Tuesday night. The incident took place in the Handwara District, a northern town in the state of J&K.
Police officials who are supervising the Operation against militants said, “During the intervening night of 24th and 25th September, Handwara police along with 30 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) launched a search operation in village Haril Manzpora during which the militants fired upon the search party. The fire was retaliated triggering an encounter in which two militants were killed.”
Later an Army Jawan Sandeep Kuman of 30 RR also lost his life that was shot by militants during encounter Moreover, in the encounter, he said.
Two AK 47 rifles and six AK magazines were recovered from the slain militants, he added.
The search operation was still going on when the reports last came in.
