Nahan: As many as five persons were reported dead and nine others injured in two separate accidents that occurred over the last 24 hrs in the state, informed the police.
A Bolero Camper jeep carrying 8 persons fell down into a deep gorge at Sheelghat, 3 kilometers towards Khara Pathar in Jubbal subdivision of the district this evening. Five persons died on the spot and three others were rushed to the nearby hospital.
Dead bodies were yet to be retrieved when a team of administration rushed to the spot to rescue the injured.
All the deceased have been identified as residents of the Sheel and Tikkar villages of Jubbal region. The cause of accident is not yet known.
In another mishap six persons were seriously injured when a tractor rolled down 35 feet deep gorge near Nihago about 10 km from Nahan on Nahan-Shimla road when the driver lost control over the vehicle on slushy road last night.
Two of the six critically injured including Deep Chand and Neelam Singh were referred to PGI Chandigarh while four others including Gian Chand, Virender, Kamlesh and Khatari Ram were admitted at Nahan Hospital in serious condition.
