Shimla: Rescue workers today recovered one more body from Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district while the fate of six washed away while crossing a flooded rivulet is still not known.
With this the death toll in yesterday’s accident has risen to two, Deputy Superintendent of Police N.S. Negi said.
Eight people of a marriage party were swept away while crossing a flooded rivulet in Paonta Sahib, some 150 km from here.
Negi said the body of an 18-year-old man was recovered 35 km downstream in neighbouring Haryana’s Yamunanagar district. The first body was also recovered from there on the day of the accident.
The victims were in four vehicles. They got struck while crossing the rivulet but most of them managed to save themselves.
Rainfed rivulets in the low hills of the state cause massive damage every monsoon.
