Shimla: Apex rural bank NABARD, on Tuesday, approved Rs 70.24 Cr funding for 17 rural road projects, 2 bridges, 6 minor irrigation project and 2 flood projection projects.
Being the second tranche of projects sanctioning in 2012-13, the total funding sanctioned for state government project for the years has gone upto Rs 159.20 crore, stated a senior NABARD executive.
Funds have been sanctioned for black topping of 11 roads of 52 Km length in the districts of districts Sirmour, Kangra, Bilaspur, Shimla and Solan.
Besides, construction of 6 rural roads of 23.23 Km length in Solan, Mandi, Kangra, Kullu and Hamirpur districts stand approved.
For the two bridges, located in Kangra and Mandi, which includes the Sandhpattan Bridge over River Beas, funding of Rs 20.57 crore has been sanctioned, the bank communiqué stated. The state agency Public Works Department would implement these projects.
The 6 minor irrigation projects are located in Bilaspur, Kangra and Kullu districts while the 2 flood protection projects are located in Kangra and Solan districts. The total command area to be benefitted by these projects is 782.07 hectares. The Irrigation & Public Health Department would implement these projects.
NABARD under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) regularly provides financial assistance to the state government, which constitutes a loan that has to be partially funded by the state from its own resources.
