Chandigarh: The Punjab government will soon have in place a policy to curb drug addiction among the people, especially among the youths of the state, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said here today.
Talking to reporters during a thanksgiving tour of Lambi, his assembly constituency in south-west Punjab, Badal said the new policy, among other initiatives, would include opening of rehabilitation centres for the addicted people.
The chief minister reiterated his government’s commitment to weed out the social malady from the state, adding that elaborate steps were being taken to tackle this serious issue.
Badal said that he had called a meeting of state officials on April 22 here for discussing the issue and initiate a policy for curbing drug addiction in the state.
