Shimla: Complying with Court Orders State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau has booked Raj Kumar Kaundal, son of Deputy Speaker Rikhi Ram Kaundal’s, along with BS Rajpal an engineer in chief of the Public Works Department (PWD), Lekh Ram Mehla and Pyare Singh Dhiman in a case relating to irregularities in the tendering process of the department.
The vigilance bureau was forced to register an FIR after Special Judge Bilaspur took cognizance of a complaint filed by Rajesh Mishra, a lawyer and an RTI activist.
Earlier, a similar complaint is said to have been made before chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal also.
Sources in the government revealed that in response to a preliminary inquiry by the investigating bureau, the government had attempted a cover up by ordering a departmental probe into the matter, prompting the complainant to take the case to court.
